ASUU Declares One Month Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has declared a one month warning strike, following a lengthy meeting which began on Sunday ended at 3am on Monday.

The union decided to embark on one-month “comprehensive and total” strike to compel the Nigerian government to acede its demands. According to Premium Times, ASUU hopes the one month strike would compel the government to deliver its demands.

ASUU’s Demands

ASUU’s demands include; funding for revitalisation of public universities, earned academic allowance, improved funding of state universities and promotion arrears. Other demands include the endorsement of the renegotiated 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement.
