Sanwoolu Strengthens Security In Lagos State
The governors statement reads;
“No society can survive without a motivated and well-equipped Police Force. Hoodlums and criminals take advantage of this fact to carry out relentless attacks on police installations nationwide. In order to destabilize the security system.
It is our responsibility as a Government to ensure criminals’ nefarious aims are not achieved. We will continue to boldly proclaim, ‘Not on our watch!
Today therefore marks a giant step in our fight against crimes in our dear state as His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari took inventory and commissioned some security equipment which we procured to help secure lives and property of our citizens in Lagos. I personally handed them over to the Inspector General of Police. Usman Alkali Baba, for the use of Lagos Police Command.
Some of the crime- fighting equipment commissioned and handed over to the police were, 150 double cabin vehicles, 30 patrol saloon cars, 4 high-capacity troop carriers and 2 anti-riot water cannon vehicles.
Other gadgets include 2 Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), 200 security patrol bikes, 1,000 units of ballistic vests, 1,000 ballistic helmets, 1,000 handheld walkie talkies, office furniture, and other ancillary resources.
These equipment and gadgets were procured through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) – an autonomous agency that partners with the private sector and individuals to provide vital support to security agencies.
We will make Lagos inhospitable for criminals, traffic robbers, kidnappers, bandits, and cultists. the Police has been charged not to spare anyone found wanting for these crimes.
This is our state, it is our duty to protect the lives and property of our residents. Therefore, not under our watch will criminal elements have a field day at the expense of innocent citizens. We will make Lagos inhabitable for them.”
