Cultist Kills Rival, Sells Palms For N5,000

Police in Ogun State have arrested a 27-yearold cultist, Kayode Oreneye, for allegedly killing a rival cult member and selling the victim’s two palms for N5,000. The police also nabbed another deadly cultist, Gbenga Ogunsanya, popularly known as “Spartacus,” who confessed to killing over nine persons in the last one year.

The state Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, paraded the two cult members alongside 46 other suspected criminals at the state Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Iliyasu, who disclosed that the suspects were held in connection with murder, armed robbery, stealing and unlawful possession of firearms, among others, said several arms and ammunition were also recovered from them. He added that the suspects, through robust surveillance, were arrested at various spots and hideouts by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

The commissioner said Oreneye, a member of Eiye confraternity, killed one Shakiru aka School Boy on February 12, at Library Junction in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.The police boss said the suspect severed the two palms of the victim and later sold them to another member of his cult group for N5,000. He said after the dastardly incident, FSARS operatives trailed the suspect and captured him at a drinking joint at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
