The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has reportedly sacked 2 staff members for extorting a 14-year-old girl who was travelling from Nigeria to Canada.
The extortion was made public on the 22nd of February, 2022, via Twitter by the child’s mother, who is a renowned Nigerian chef. The mother had tweeted that the airport staff had taken all the pocket money from her daughter who was travelling alone at the time. “Why are you stealing money from a child?, she wrote. “And you took all of it and didn’t let her call her mother.”
After an investigation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) released a st saying that the staff had been fired and barred from working at any Nigerian airport.
