Manchester United have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for 25-year-old, Brazil star Fred. The player had a medical with the club on Monday after participating in Brazil’s friendly with Croatia on Sunday in Liverpool. United have been tracking the midfielder throughout the last six months and their interest increased after Manchester City pulled out of a deal for Fred in January.
The Red Devils have now confirmed on their official website that Fred is set to become a United player after agreeing terms with the club.
‘Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos,’ a statement read. ‘A further announcement will be made in due course.’
