Nigerian Man Sentenced To Death For Drug Trafficking In Vietnam

A 45-year-old Nigerian man, Mr. Ekwegbalu James Nzube, has been sentenced to death by a Vietnamese court for trafficking 4 kilograms of methamphetamine.

James was transporting the drugs from Cambodia to Vietnam when he was apprhended at the southern Tay Ninh Province. Sources say 4 plastic bags containing nearly 4kg of meth was found in his rucksack as he attempted to cross the border illegally.

During his court hearing, James said he was introduced to drug trafficking through another Nigerian, Mr Jone whom he met in China in 2014. Jone had allegedly paid James $2000 to illegally transport the drugs.

James was sentenced to death as is the penalty for drug trafficking in Vietnam according to the 2015 criminal law.
