An on-air personality and filmmaker shared on Twitter how she was turned away from the social media bill public hearing by security personnel for wearing an indecent dress to the Nigerian National House of Assembly. She was denied entrance alongside another male who was wearing ripped jeans.
The only person who spoke up for her was also denied entrance after the security personnel decided that his jeans were also indecent for the event.
“We need to do better as citizens. The National Assembly is one place Nigerians can generally call their own. Denying people access on frivolous grounds is an abuse of the rights of citizens.” She wrote on social media, ” I have lost the opportunity to contribute to and report this very important public hearing because of gatekeepers who don’t know how to do their jobs.”
